Why is Polish grammar so hard to learn?

I just started learning Polish, and wow, it’s a rollercoaster! I got totally lost in all those cases, like, why does "kot" (cat) change to "kota" and "kocie" depending on the sentence? My head is spinning! 😅 Anyone else feel like they’re grappling with grammar puzzles?

Yes, indeed, Polish is a difficult language to learn and Polish cases can feel like a wild puzzle at first. But it does start making sense after a while. The key thing is that Polish changes word endings (like kot → kota → kocie) depending on the word’s role in the sentence.

For example:

Kot śpi. → The cat is sleeping. (nominative – subject)

Widzę kota. → I see the cat. (accusative – object)

Mówię o kocie. → I’m talking about the cat. (locative – after a preposition)

So basically, the word changes to show what it’s doing in the sentence — who’s doing the action, who’s receiving it, etc.

Try focusing on one case at a time, and you’ll see progress faster than you expect. 💪
